Truetone D-2616 Restoration Project
This radio was given to me several month ago and I finally decided to see what could be done with it.
It was in absolutely terrible condition - not working, full of dirt and bug eggs, and worst of all it had been painted.
Apparently someone was painting a room pink and decided the radio would look good if it matched.
Yes, they painted it pink with a brush.  They not only painted the case but the knobs and pushbuttons.
Careful removal of ALL layers of paint revealed three bad cracks that had been poorly repaired.
I rebroke them and repaired them correctly.  The 35Z5 was replaced along with the dial lamp and one cap.
After many hours of cleaning the radio showed vast improvement.  Repainting is finished and the radio is complete.
